What is D-SETI?

The Dream Study

of Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence

Imagine D-SETI like the SETI Institute that uses radio telescopes to look for signs of ET intelligence.  Instead of radio telescopes, D-SETI uses dreams as a way of knowing.  We know that dreams are telepathic and respond to both subjective events like intention and mindfulness and objective events like geomagnetic conditions.

You get to choose depending on what you believe, think, or feel.  You can know that people are having dream-like experiences of ET contact and understanding them through dream-like means of knowledge, without making a judgement about whether or not it's real.  Just as we can study the contents of literature to understand its culture, we can study dreams of ETs to understand ourselves.

If ET contact is dream-like and we know about through dream-like means of knowing, then we must honor and understand these stories like we honor and understand dreams.  There are two ethical principles of dreamwork that apply here:

  1. Assignment of Authority, which states that the dreamer is the final authority regarding the significance of the dream (including ontological significance).
  2. Respect of the Dream, which states that the dream is a multidimensional source of meaning and involves both subjective and objective events and therefore cannot be reduced to a single interpretation.
To understand and study the dreams or ET/NHI contact of others, you must first work with your own dreams and dream-like experiences.

How do you work with dreams?

There are many different ways to work with dreams.  It appears that mindfulness practice, contemplation of attitudes toward dreaming, and setting intention through lucid dreaming are all beneficial practices.

D-SETI dreamwork is based on mindfulness practice, dream studies research, and hypnosis training.  While hypnosis is problematic as memory enhancement, hypnosis can be understood as the intentional induction of a waking dream state.

Follow your intuition and use your discernment.  You have everything you already need to do dreamwork: your dreams.  People have been doing dreamwork since before written history.  It's helpful to work with others and study dreams.

Online Dreamwork Sessions

Humanity may have evolved because our ancestors started sharing their dreams. Working with a shaman, priest, or dream interpreter is an ancient practice that is honored in over 90% of Earth's cultures.

D-SETI dreamwork sessions involve mindfulness practice, sharing your story, and guided meditation or hypnotic trance to explore your dreams.

Online e-courses and groups

E-courses are one of the best ways to learn about dreamwork at your own pace. They involve pre-recorded lectures, linked references, dreamwork practice exercises, Q&A through comments, and learning meetings with Daniel.

Most e-courses are asynchronous, which means that you do them on your own time and at your own pace. Daniel, D-SETI instructor, is available through comments for questions or to schedule a learning meeting to support your journey.

Books, papers, and data reports

The only way we can learn about the world through stories about dreams and dream-like experiences are to share and listen to the stories.  Dream sharing may be the fundamental human activity because it may have helped our ancestors self-domesticate by promoting social cohesion and empathy.

D-SETI is focused on sharing dreams and education of dreamwork through books, academic papers, and data reports.  If you're interested in academic research or data reports built on a large database on dreams and dream-like experiences (200k+ records from dozens of sources), then get in touch.

Daniel, D-SETI founder, has written and illustrated over 6 books regarding his own dream experiences, dream practices, and ET/NHI contact.

Please be mindful

Dreams and ET/NHI are triggering, taboo, and projection-prone

It's important to note that dreams and ET/NHI contact are taboo, triggering, and projection-prone.  There's no way around it because we're dealing with unconscious material.

Doing dreamwork might trigger memories and feelings from your worst nightmare or fear.  Doing dreamwork regarding ET/NHI contact might involve dealing with repressed feelings.

Take a moment to consider.
Are you ready to work with your fears, nightmares, and intuitions?

Indications that you're ready to work with your dreams include:

  • Interest in dreams or dream-like experiences
  • Trust in yourself and intuition
  • Daily practice of mindfulness (or willingness to establish the habit)
  • Unattachment to the outcome of the process
  • You're looking for something other than historic testimony
  • You are willing and able to integrate the experiences of dreamwork in your daily life

References and Analysis

D-SETI Dreamwork is based on scholarly research.  Check out the growing database of references and analysis below.

I wrote this paper in the Subtle Bodies II course within the Integral Noetic Science program at CIHS. What is alien abduction, why is it relevant, and how does it relate with subtle energy systems? Subtle energy systems refers to personal experiences that are known through subtle senses like intuition, imagination, spiritual vision, astral projection,

In March, 2024, I entered a crisis of faith regarding UAP Disclosure, which lead to significant ethical concerns about UAP/experiencer research at my school, the California Institute for Human Sciences. In August, 2024, I raised concerns to my program director Sean Esbjorn-Hargens by presenting a 200 page document about my concerns, who advised me to

Shamanic dreaming is a natural worldview that believe dreams are real events that have real consequences in our lives. Everyone can relate to dreams in a way that provides insight and meaning. Everyone can negotiate with the dream for their benefit. This paper is a cross cultural study of shamanic dreaming cultures. It outlines principles

Hi, I'm Daniel

D-SETI Founder

I'm very glad you're here.  It's really important that we look into the often triggering and taboo subjects of dreams and ET/NHI contact.  Whatever we believe about these phenomenon, it's clear that they're meaningful and an essential part of humanity, even if we can't produce objective statements about them.

I'm an experiencer of NHI contact through dreams, a PhD student studying dreams and ET/NHI contact, and a dreamworker using hypnosis.  I share a lot of my personal testimony in my books An Illustrated Guide to Practical Dreaming and The Book of Galactic Light.

My message is simple: you need to do dreamwork to understand dreams or ET/NHI contact.  Otherwise, it won't make sense.  You don't need to do dreamwork with me, you don't need to pay anyone, and you don't need a complicated education.  Dreamwork is an essential human technology and is freely given in our cultural heritage.

If you do connect with my style of dreamwork or would like to learn dreamwork from a Western Liberal Arts and Integral Studies perspective, then please do consider working with me in your study or practice.  The best way might be to book a consultation or get in touch.

What are dreams?

Everyone spends about 1/3 of their lives in sleep.  Most people associated dreams with sleep, but dream scientists include day-dreams, hallucination, and other waking-but-subjective experiences within the scientific definition of dreams.

Nearly everyone dreams every night, but not everyone remembers their dreams.  It appears that dream recall responds to attitude, intention, and mindfulness practice.

What are ETs?

We all sort of know what UFOs and UAPs are, even though they're unidentified.  It's hard to keep up with the lingo and acronyms, but it's really important that we come to a workable understanding.

While it would seem easy or clear-cut to define ETs and UFOs, it's actually a very hard process.  The challenge has to do with the tension between mythic and logical ways of knowing.  We have a lot of testimony about ET/NHI contact and not a lot of physical evidence, just like with religious experience.

Dream studies provides a working model regarding how to handle definitions.  The ethics of dreamwork involves the "assignment of authority" to the dreamer, which means that the dreamer is respected as the final authority regarding the significance of their experience.  In the same way, the experiencer of ET/NHI contact should be the final authority regarding the significance of their experience, including the ontological significance.

Are ETs real?

Don't worry, it seems that almost everyone is a little skeptical, confused, or curious about the subject of ET/NHI contact and UFO/UAP sightings.  Add dreams and hypnosis to the mix and nobody knows what's going on.  While performing rigorous and academic inquiry is very valuable, it may not be the point.

People often wonder where is the proof for ETs and UFOs.  An experiencer will share their story and a skeptic might question them and second guess their assessment that the experience was nothing of this world by asking for proof.  It's very important to realize that people are experiencing something intense and meaningful for them even if your worldview doesn't acknowledge their experience.  The fact that you need proof for you to accept their experiences doesn't change the fact that they experienced what they experienced.

Tales of ET contact and UFO sightings often feel and read like dreams.  The experiencers often say that they think of them like dreams, except that they were real.  D-SETI is here to say that experiences might be both dream and real at the same time.

There are many ways of knowing.  If you're skeptical, then you're probably familiar with objectivity and logical ways of thinking.  In contrast, there's subjectivity and mythic ways of thinking.  Both poles of the subject/object and the mythic/logical dualities are meaningful and valid.  They are different ways to know different things about our world.

What's the difference between hypnosis and dreamwork?

Hypnosis is a problematic source of objective and historic testimony.  No one really knows how it works.  But it's one of the only ways that experiencers of ET/UFO contact have to work with their experiences.

Given that hypnosis is clearly not memory enhancement, something else must be going on.  People find healing, insight, and transformation in hypnosis simply by working with their own minds. Hypnosis is understood to be physiologically like a nap and psychologically like a daydream. Dreams are real and lead to healing, insight, and transformation.

Shamanic dreaming cultures understand that some dreams require interpretation by the shaman. These cultures respect the psychical reality of dreams.  They work with dreams as a way to mediate the human and non-human worlds.

It appears that hypnosis in the service of ET contact may be best understood as a shamanic dream practice rather than as memory enhancement.

Can I use dreamwork to remember my ET contact experience?

If you're interested at all in the UAP/UFO or NHI/ET contact phenomenon, then you need a working understanding of missing time, hypnosis, and dreamwork.  Missing time is gap in memory related to a UFO/UAP or NHI/ET contact event.  It's been described like blacking out, stepping into a dream, or even time traveling, usually associated with seeing a UFO or UAP.

Missing time is important because its one of the main sources of information regarding ET/NHI contact experiences.  Experiencers often present supporting evidence for contact like a deep intuition, physical marks upon the body, concurrent witnesses, or other forms of documentation.

Missing time is one of the most triggering and taboo topics related to UAPs because of its association with hypnosis.  The hypothesis was that missing time is caused by repressed trauma or alien mind control, therefore hypnosis might counter-act the resistance to memory and actually enhance recall.  However, hypnosis in service to memory enhancement appears to be something more like a psychic ability than a reproducible technique and has been shown to lead to false memories in some cases.

It appears that hypnosis is a special-case of shamanic dreaming practices that have a long history, which has been often obscured by materialist academics.  Dream studies requires a different set of ethics and epistemologies than historic evidence.  It appears that dreamwork related to missing time does not directly lead to historic testimony, but is meaningful in the way that dreams are meaningful.

How do I work with my dreams?

Dreamwork involves relating with your dreams as a source of insight, healing, and transformation. There are many reasons and ways to work with your dreams, just like there are many reasons and ways to work with your feelings or the natural work.

D-SETI agrees with more than 90% of cultures on Earth in honoring the psychical reality of dreams.  The psychical reality of dreams means that dreams are more than "just dreams" and that by working with dreams, we are working with the very reality of our experiences.

Dreamwork is very similar to hypnosis, but you remain in complete control of your experience.  You are invited into relaxation, you build rapport with your unconscious mind, and you have a journey within the imaginal world.  All dreamwork can happen online and starts with a no-obligation consultation for you to ask any questions or to get clarity on your intention.

D-SETI looks to the ethical guidelines of the International Association of the Study of Dreams as a means to define dreamwork.  One of the most important principles is respecting the dreamer through the assignment of authority, which means that you, the dreamer, are respected as the final authority regarding the significance of your dream and dreamwork.

D-SETI offers several different types of dreamwork session and all of them follow the same process:

  1. Talk about intentions and experience
  2. Build rapport with each other and the dreaming mind
  3. Set intentions and do the dreamwork

What's the deal with donations and payments?

All D-SETI services and materials are offered by donation.  Dreams are not commodities, they are sacred.  It feels better knowing that you can donate within your means and that you don't have to donate beforehand.  If the dreamwork isn't satisfying to you, then simply don't donate.

  • You can book your sessions, then donate after the fact
  • You're not obligated to donate
  • We can converse about donation expectations

Daniel is a PhD student and supports a growing family through a variety of means including these donations, therefore his ability to support on-going low donation sessions is limited.

People with limited means typically donate less, those with greater means donate more, and it generally works out. If you have a question about the process, please get in touch.

To donate, you may write in any amount using the PayPal donation form.
